Community Cafes Continue to Ensure Everybody Eats
The COVID-19 pandemic has placed a significant strain on the restaurant industry. Millions of restaurant workers have been laid off or furloughed, and the National Restaurant Association estimates that 30% of all restaurants nation-wide will not have the financial means to reopen.
And while the threat of restaurants closing looms, our Community Cafes continue to ensure everyone eats! Many have reinvented the pay-what-you-can model during this health crisis to offer to-go meals. And, all of our member cafes are committed to their mission and their community during this time.
Tricklebee Cafe Offers 'Thriving Family' Bags During COVID-19 Pandemic
Tricklebee Cafe is temporarily closed during the COVID-19 Pandemic; but that isn’t stopping them from serving their community!
“The COVID-19 crisis has us in the unique situation of being located in an underserved area, which is currently one of the hot spots for COVID-19 infections in Milwaukee. We are committed to finding ways that we can help, no matter how small, to lessen the stress of our community. We are also committed to providing remote work options and income for our employees during these uncertain and challenging times. We will begin handing out “Thriving Family” bags to families in need in our area. These bags include: healthy snack bags, art supplies, & books for children, non-perishable foods (such as canned beans & soups), toiletries, and fresh produce, as it is available. By offering these bags, we aim to bring a smile, a little break, and some hope to our neighbors.”
