FACILITATORS: Brad and Libby Birky,
Founders of S.A.M.E. Cafe (Denver, CO and Toledo, OH)

Brad and Libby Birky opened S.A.M.E. Café (So All May Eat) in Denver, Colorado in October 2006.  The couple wanted to combine their experiences into a place that offered amazing food, a commitment to service, and a place to broaden one’s view of the world.  Today, the café is the longest running One World Everybody Eats café, and is the flagship of longevity for a nonprofit café.  In 2017, Brad and Libby successfully transitioned leadership of the daily operations to Brad Reubendale (Executive Director).  And today, Brad and Libby continue to play an active role amongst community café operators.

Saturday, June 15th (1:30pm - 3:00pm)

Workshop D:
FAQs for cafe start-ups

Every Community Cafe® is as unique as the communities they serve. If you’ve experienced one Community Cafe, then you’ve seen only one cafe. However, over the years One World Everybody Eats has developed seven core principles of successful nonprofit Community Cafes, which are rooted in Food Insecurity Theory.

This workshop will answer the most frequently asked questions from communities looking to launch a Community Cafe and answer a few of your questions.
